What is Textile?

One of the leading sectors of the economy in Turkey is textile.

So what is this textile? Weaving is the use of animal, vegetable or chemical fiber products.

It is the production sector that includes everything that can be worn and some decoration products.

Weaving; It is the name given to the entire process from obtaining the material to be used until it becomes ready for use.

Textile can be defined as the art of obtaining surfaces from all kinds of textile fibers by applying various methods (weaving, knitting and non-woven surface obtaining techniques).

Clothing is one of the three most important needs of human beings since their creation (clothing, food, shelter), that is, it is as old as humanity.

Textile has a very wide application area; It is the general name of the manufacturing sector, which includes everything that can be worn, some decoration products and all kinds of accessories.

Fibers of animal, vegetable, synthetic or mineral origin are the main usage products. It is one of the most important and employment-providing sectors in Turkey.

Textile is derived from the Latin word texere and means woven and knitted fabric.

The concept of textile includes textile fibers, textile products and by-products and the goods obtained using them.

Clothing (i.e. textile goods) produced using these surfaces arose from man’s need to protect himself against weather conditions.

Firstly, for this purpose; animal hides, felts; Knitting and weaving were also used with the help of the yarns obtained after the development of the spinning technique.
